One QR code for the invitations, the signs and the programs

An invitation is printed months before the day it's for. Between the printer and the event, the ceremony time shifts, the hotel block fills, the shuttle gets added, the rain plan becomes the plan. A QR code on the invitation is only useful if what it opens can change when the details do.

Two ways a code on an invitation goes wrong

1. The code points straight at one page. A static code has the web address printed into its squares. If the page moves, or you swap one site for another, every invitation already in the mail opens the old address.

2. The code belongs to a subscription. Many "free" QR generators make dynamic codes that route through their own servers, then turn into a subscription after a short trial. Stop paying and the code on every invitation stops with it. We priced one such app out line by line in how the trap works.

What an invitation code needs

Three ways to do it with us

Already have a wedding website or an event page? A $19 code, paid once, points at it. If the address changes, or you'd rather send guests to the schedule, the registry or the photographs afterwards, point the same code there. Change it whenever you like. No extra charge while HelmQR operates the service. You get PNG, SVG and print-ready PDF files. Ready-to-print signs made from your code come with it: a table tent, a counter card and a window sign.

Nowhere to send your guests yet? A $99 code and hosted page, paid once, gives you a wedding page at helmqr.com/nora-and-ellis: the four things guests text you about, which are when, where, what to wear, and when to RSVP by. You edit it yourself, whenever you like, with no extra charge while HelmQR operates the service.

Planning several events? Packs are 3 codes for $45, 5 for $69 or 10 for $99, paid once. Every code works exactly like a $19 code and is set up on its own, in any order, whenever you are ready, so each event gets its own code.

One payment. No monthly fee from us. It keeps working while we operate the service. Not a promise the service runs indefinitely.

One code on everything you print

The same code can go on the save-the-date, the invitation, the welcome sign and the program. They all open the same place, so one change reaches all of them: the timings the week before, the seating plan on the day, the photographs afterwards. If you would rather the table cards opened the menu and the invitation opened the details, that's two codes.

Questions

Can I change the details after the invitations are printed?

Yes. That's what a dynamic code is for. With a $19 code, point it at the new page. With a $99 page, edit the page. There's no extra charge for either while HelmQR operates the service.

Do guests need an app to scan it?

No. A phone's own camera reads the code and opens the page in the browser.

What does the code open after the event?

Whatever you point it at. Some people send it to the photographs, some leave the page as it was. It works on the same terms as before: while we operate the service, with nothing more to pay.
